This high-vaulted and many-pillared chamber encircles a broad marble floor from which speakers can stand and turn to address the crowd in the surrounding stands. A low dais curves around a quarter of the circle, and there stand several different chairs for the councilors, each as plush or plain as suits its customary posterior.
