The Combat Collection:
“How do you want to do this?”
First Note
The twang of the string reverberates through the air like a plucked note: the opening to a symphony of death.
Tree of Death
I pick an arrow with the deliberation of an archdruid pulling a weed and root it to my bowstring before pulling back. The pressure branches to my limbs, and the fletching whispers like a dry leaf when the arrow flies.
My Instrument is Death
I whirl my right hand like I’m strumming a lyre, but my instrument is death—and my shortsword flies purer than any note.
Less than a Second
I drop my longsword—only to kick it back up and catch it in a reverse grip. It takes less than a second, which is longer than I give my foe before I heave it toward them.
Moon Sliver
The arc of my scimitar through the air is the slice of a thief's moon on a cold night.
Excise the Rot
My greatsword is the cleansing instrument by which I excise the filth from this world. My foe is a canker, a weeping boil that must be lanced lest its corruption spread.
Sadist's Eye
Everything has weak points, areas that can be targeted for maximum pain and confusion. They’re also the most fun to hit with a well-placed arrow.
Ricochet Surprise
It looks like a terrible miss, the arrow flying out and down, until the head bounces up from the hard surface I’ve chosen, as if shouting surprise at the arrowhead’s intended recipient.
