Thick layers of dust cover the barrels and crates still remaining in this ancient storeroom, the wood aged but neither warped by moisture nor penetrated by hands or teeth. At one point they were neatly labeled, but age has faded the ink to the point of incomprehensibility—indeed, the stored goods might be in better condition than the signs. The construction of this room must have been exacting to have maintained, in such fine conditions, goods from a time before your grandparents and your grandparents’ grandparents!
