The odor of this ramshackle shed tickles at your senses far before it comes into view. The shed has been expanded multiple times with additions of wood planks and chicken wire. The sounds from within the animal shelter shifts from low murmurs of cats and the occasional yip of a dog to a cacophony of snarls and hisses, chaotic and impossible to control. Around the back of the shelter, piles of offal and bones brought in the early morning by the local butcher sit on stretched tarps for the discarded animals’ single daily meal.
