Although hunched and slow, he doesn’t lean on his walking stick so much as lead with it. His gray cloak and ratty gray beard suggest an unkempt aging, his footwraps a time of hardship, but he emanates a strange confidence. His eyes are bright and sharp, a young man’s eyes, and though he rambles and ruminates, his jokes are quick and clever. He tells stories of recent travels. The hand on the staff tells other stories—in the form of a silver band engraved in elvish and a brass ring set with a ruby.
