The clocktower feel, pizzicato on the cello and higher strings, eighth notes play in contrast to the slow, delicious notes of a pair of violins. As if to remind the other instruments of gravitas and art, a cello plays a low legato corrective. The piano pushes back with some cheer, and the strings seem convinced, adding a lift where there was once a fall. Several emotions at once, mechanical logic surviving among them in rhythm, stop painting precisely as they stop keeping time.
