The shrine stands about four feet tall. Rounded tiles of some dark clay show signs of age, but they cover an even older roof of wood that either was decaying or perhaps was deemed not decorative enough. Red paint applied to the stone walls of the shrine have been flaking off for some time. Perhaps both the roof and paint were applied at the same time, when folk around here felt wealthy enough to rejuvenate the landmark.
