A violin section trembles under haunting woodwinds playing groups of triplets. A solo woodwind plays a melody over the strings, complemented by the soft pattering of a drum. Then variations on the theme are played by horns, a bassoon, and finally a piano, as the violins continue to infuse the piece with wizardry. The piece finishes on a couple of high, staccato piano notes.
