Metal hanging chimes hit with rubber mallets establish the mood. Shakers, deep wooden flutes, and mountain horns play grandiose patterns until a solo soprano, perhaps the heart of the forest, sends a pretty melody into the air. Bells play along, and her voice is added to a choir, all in the crisp notes of a cheer infused with gravity by a gong. For a while a flute stands in for the singer, who then returns to take us home.
