The plucking of a lute at a walking pace, playing occasional chords, is supported by an orchestra playing long swelling chords every few measures. In the third short movement, a violin plays above the group. The violin bows out, then the orchestra, until the lute and other strings pluck the final notes, like the sun setting on a late, cool autumn day.
